photo (2)Jill was raised along with older brothers Davy and Andrew, older sister Laura and younger sister Julie in Boulder, Colorado by her parents Dave and Dorothy. She grew up playing the piano, swimming competitively and coaching throughout High School. Jill went on to attend Truman State University in Missouri where she was a four-year All American swimmer. After college, she taught at a private elementary school in Boulder before relocating to New York City in 2007, and working in the Aquatics Department at Asphalt Green — a non-profit sports and fitness facility on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

Bryan grew up on Long Island, living with his younger brother Kevin and mother Pat, and in Westchester with his father Gary and stepmother Josie. Also a competitive swimmer, he spent his time in High School lifeguarding and coaching swimming before attending Mary Washington College in Virginia where he was a four-year letter winner. Beyond graduation, Bryan continued to coach and began racing triathlons and marathons. In 2004, he started working and coaching at Asphalt Green in the Aquatics Department.

It was at Asphalt Green where Jill and Bryan met, and worked together for five years supporting the largest swim program in the City – which most recently produced NYC’s first Olympic medalist in swimming. In that time, Bryan earned a Masters Degree in Sports Management from Columbia University, and is now the Director of the Aquatics Department at Asphalt Green. Jill earned her Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Hunter College, and is now a Kindergarten-Third Grade Science Teacher at the Cathedral School of Saint John the Divine.

They have lived together in the East Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan since 2009, and enjoy all the city life has to offer — especially the wide range of dining options, cultural and entertainment opportunities and urban experiences. On the weekends they like to get outdoors for visits to the beach, camping and hiking upstate. Jill has been a faithful supporter of Bryan’s athletic endeavors – including 3 Ironman Triathlon races, numerous marathons, and training trips all over the States.

On July 23rd, 2012 Jill was on her 9th day as a juror for a three week trial. Bryan had taken the opportunity of her being away from work to look for and obtain a beautiful vintage engagement ring. After calling Jill’s father, he put together a picnic and met her near the downtown courthouse at the base of the Brooklyn Bridge. Following a nice stroll over the bridge, they found a spot in the Empire-Fulton Ferry Park overlooking Manhattan to lay out their spread. As Jill unpacked the food, she was surprised to find a small square box at the bottom of the bag. She looked up to see Bryan on one knee, and a year later they will celebrate their marriage in Boulder, CO.
